Lavazza Project
Blending Ornamental Beauty with Edible Abundance
Type: Residential Location: Ormeau, Queensland
Design Installation

Project Overview
Client Information:
Tiff and Richie dreamed of a residential backyard focused on creating a family-friendly space for a couple with young children. Key elements included privacy screening around the pool and a stunning ornamental garden to enhance the property’s beauty. The couple wanted to incorporate fruit trees, raised vegetable gardens, and a passionfruit trellis to maximise the garden's productivity.
A fire pit area was included to create a cozy space for family gatherings while screening in front of the bedroom windows was designed to reduce heat exposure.
The homeowner’s passion for flowers, inspired by her work as a florist, also called for the inclusion of vibrant, abundant floral plantings throughout the garden.

Innovations
The innovation in this project lay in designing two distinct planting schemes that were carefully adapted to the subtropical climate. A Mediterranean-inspired scheme was created to evoke the timeless beauty of this style while using plants better suited to local conditions, ensuring resilience and longevity. In another area, a lush cottage-style planting scheme was introduced, featuring vibrant, abundant flowers chosen for their ability to thrive in the warm, humid climate. This dual approach blended aesthetics with functionality, creating a garden that was both stunning and well-suited to its environment.
